Board Self-Assessment: Charting Your Path to Success: A Deeper Dialogue Session

Feedback form is now closed.
The Iowa Code does not mandate board self-assessment, but it’s a key competency that IASB encourages in its Standards for Effective School Boards. There's truth in the perception that: “Ultimately, school board elections are the way that board members are evaluated." It is also important, however, for the board to evaluate its own operations and culture. Each board member should evaluate his or her role on the board and contributions to its successes and failures. In this interactive session you'll hear how two school boards used self-assessment to reflect upon and strengthen their governance work. You'll also explore sample instruments available through IASB and network with other participants around the potential power of board self-assessment.
